So here I am, on my laptop in my cozy bedroom listening to the Breakfast at Tiffany's soundtrack on vinyl.
Life is good.
Prior to this I was sitting outside getting a bit of sun. The sky is beautiful today, people --- pretty much cloudless and soooo blue. I had a mix of Bright Eyes, Bob Dylan, Vetiver, and Devendra Banhart playing as I was killing my lungs. Nothing better. Except a ~~beer~~ mojito would of just been a great addition. I am so relaxed.

I have a crapload of work that I should be doing, but I'm feeling carefree. No stress here. I know I'll get to it eventually... maybe when this lovely vibe is over. Who knows?!

I'm waiting for the mailman (mailwoman?) to get here. My package from UO arrives today. I bought some sandals, a skirt, a shirt, and a tunic (which will probably fit me like a dress due to my height). Pictures to come later... maybe... don't you love the suspence?

Summer, I can feel you approaching. I love you. I love you. I love you.

Alright, well off I go.

gotta wake up at 6:15am! But I'm just not tired.
Anyway,
I'm super bummed that I'm gonna be missing the Lady Gaga show tomorrow, LAME. (Maybe that's why I can't sleep!)

Ah, funny observation today: my brother called my dad today, and they couldn't talk for very long because my dad was at work. So they made plans to talk later on in the day.
I called my brother for my dad at 8pm (9pm Brazil time), and turns out my brother had gone out with a friend.
Once again I called, this time at 10pm US time (11pm Brazil). Still wasn't at home.
My dad was so upset! lol! He was like, "I don't like this at all! It's Tuesday, and he's out at this time? He has work tomorrow!"
My thought process was something like: uh, he can handle himself... he's 26! I mean really!

This situation just made it clear to me that I will constantly be in a battle concerning the time I come home. ALWAYS! Can't wait to move out. Can't wait! Let's cross our fingers and hope that that day comes soon... like within months!

Alrighty, I'm off. Time to try to sleep.

I finally had the chance yesterday to really look through this month's ELLE and must say that the photo spreads are amazing. I'm trying to find some scans of this issue so I can put them up here.

In the mean time I'll discuss my favorite photographer in this month's issue, Horst Diekgerdes, who apparently doesn't have his own website (such a shame!). This winter was a chilly one here. During the usual winter time I take out "heavier" jackets (my pea coat and faux leather jacket) 3 times if I'm lucky, this past winter I wore them at least for 3 weeks! I got quite used to the cool weather and once it started getting in the mid 70's I started thinking that it was way too hot! Needless to say, I was absolutely dreading summer's arrival (90+ degrees! ah! hell!).

My mind lately has been coming up with some potentially good ideas for self-portraits, though my horrendous cold has become quite debilitating. Seriously, I was coughing so much today that my professor told me that I needed to be excused from class. (It was a cough attack.)

Right now I'm all cozy beneath the covers, though my feet still feel slightly frozen. It's a rare occasion in which I'm enjoying the heat emitted from my laptop, who needs electronic blankets? Not I!

I'm dreaming of glorious Spring right now: strappy sandals, dreamy pastels, floral patterns, and romantic skirts and dresses.

As we all know, Polaroid Instant Film is on the brink of extinction. Though there appears to be a glimpse of hope in the future for this photographic icon!

There's a company in the Netherlands planning on continuing the production of Polaroid film (starting in December of this year).

"Dubbed "The Impossible Project", the development of new film for Polaroid cameras launches today. Working with the Manchester-based black and white photography company Ilford, the machinery is in place to produce film of two exposure types, each compatible with both the classic SX-70 cameras popular with artists and the more modern 600 series."

What Took Me So Long to Watch This?!

"We came over to sit. That's what people do when tragedy strikes. They come over, and sit."

I finally watched Lars and the Real Girl which stars Ryan Gosling, yes the Notebook hottie.

It's a fantastic movie!

The plot is basically of a socially awkward guy, Lars, that orders a "love" doll from the internet and brings her to meet his brother and sister-in-law. The thing is that he isn't using the doll for phallic pleasure, he uses the doll to have conversations with. He seeks a deep, meaningful relationship. His sister-in-law wants to do everything to help him, his brother thinks he's gone over the edge. But, the story becomes truly moving once you see how the whole town seeks to help delusional Lars. It's a movie really about how a community should act.

"The writer conveys in a feature on the DVD that the film is about what could happen if a community would let a “mentally ill” person be himself. In other words, it’s about what could happen if the “illness” diagnosis is dropped and the person is treated with love and respect like a human. This film presents that “what if” beautifully."*

So it's been a slow summer.

My original plan was to start a blog once I moved to Brazil, but at the moment that's the most frustrating plan ever. Thanks dad! Now with my uncertain future ahead of me I need an outlet... HELLO BLOG! Here's to hoping I keep up with this, and I stay sane.
